The Institute for Museum and Library Services awarded $99,953 to INPEACE to advance our Kaulele Program, an Indigenous STEM Experience which provides interactive activities utilizing observational, problem-solving and hands-on approaches to learning.
With this $99,953 IMLS award, it will provide resources necessary to work with practitioners statewide specifically around Loko I’a. We hope to increase our knowledge, understanding, and capacity to effectively translate indigenous practices and technologies around Hawaiian fishponds into designs for an interactive traveling exhibit that will reach all communities in the State of Hawaii. This Loko Iʻa exhibit will develop enjoyable Indigenous STEM thought-provoking activities that spark interest and generate excitement in children and families.
