The Mikilua Farm Center invested $20,000 to continue and support the work of INPEACE’s purpose and function in the Wai’anae community especially the youth to enhance their knowledge and to become leaders of the future.
INPEACE will use these monies to support our youth programs, Kupu Ola and Eō to engage youth in grades 4-6 in the discovery of self, cultural identity, and connection to place. This culture-based program will promote and develop the motivation, pride and leadership skills to envision and work towards a positive future and academic success. We want our youth to have a connection to their community, culture, traditional protocols and practices that can be instrumental to their success in both school and life. Kupu Ola collaborates with Wai’anane Intermediate to provide alternative learning approaches to their students, in a Natve Hawaiian culture outdoor classroom and interactivie learning activities. Eō will teach and develop leadership skills, with progressive responsibilities of youth to incrementally mover through the roles of Learner, Mentor, and Guide.
