Ka Lama received $500,000 from the Act 310 Nonprofit Grants Program!

INPEACE Ka Lama received a $500,000 grant from the State Office of Community Services (OCS)! Aloha United Way has partnered with OCS for grant administration of the Act 310 Nonprofit Grants Program, which is funded by the Hawaiʻi State Legislature and provides support to nonprofits across the islands affected by shifts in federal funding, helping them sustain essential services for communities throughout Hawaiʻi.

The grants aim to strengthen community services and improve quality of life for Hawaii residents by supporting programs in food security, healthcare, education, and human services. Legislators emphasized that Act 310 reflects the state’s commitment to protecting families and supporting nonprofit partners who deliver essential services across the islands.

This funding will support Ka Lama’s goals of advancing Educational Equity and Building a Sustainable Teacher Workforce, including:

· Recruit and support teacher candidates through financial assistance for tuition, testing stipends, and academic coaching

· Deliver peer mentorship, pairing participants with practicing educators and alumni to strengthen teacher retention and wellbeing

· Track credential progress, licensure attainment, and job placement to monitor workforce development outcomes
