Aloha United Way (AUW) and the Hawai’i Community Foundation (HCF) have partnered with INPEACE to administer the 2025-2027 ALICE Initiative. This funding is part of a collective impact model that will be instrumental in addressing the complex systemic barriers and inequities faced by ALICE here locally.
The ALICE Fund at Aloha United Way focuses on supporting those who fall within ALICE’s definition: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. ALICE households represent a significant portion of working families in Hawai’i who struggle with limited resources, making it challenging to meet basic needs despite being employed. By supporting organizations like INPEACE, the ALICE Fund aims to create meaningful change for Hawai’i’s working families and contribute to economic self-sufficiency and resiliency across the state.
INPEACE’s involvement in this group’s efforts is to identify best practices and solutions, share experiences, data, and resources, collaborate on promising projects and ideas, and coordinate sustained actions to improve financial stability and affordable housing access. Ho’oulu Waiwai will be able to provide Financial Capability Workshops, Financial Coaching, Financial Capability Practitioner Community of Practice and a Debt Relief Program to help elevate ALICE households. By participating in this initiative, Ho’oulu Waiwai will be able to explore innovative approaches to support the financial well-being of ALICE households in collaboration with other cohort members.
“We want to mahalo ALICE Fund for providing Ho’oulu Waiwai the opportunity to enhance community outreach and support, increase our resources and to access valuable data and research on economic
challenges. This is a vital role philanthropy plays in strengthening and improving our community.” Nohea Kaolulo, Program Director
