McInerny Foundation Awards $20,000

The McInerny Foundation has awarded $20,000 to INPEACE to advance the Indigenous Science Center’s Kapa Exhibit project. The Story of Kapa is a traveling exhibit that consists of ten large wooden display panels and fragile equipment.

With this $20,000 McInerny Foundation award, it will support the purchase of custom-made Air Transport Association cases necessary to ensure the travelability and protection of the exhibit. This will help expand our reach to all communities and to rural neighbor island communities where youth and families have limited and rare access to similar resources. The exhibit utilizes a self-directed exploration strategy and consists of five interactive learning stations equipped with hands-on activities engaging visitors in stimulated learning that introduces the to STEM topics through relevant cultural approaches.

“INPEACE is blessed that McInerny Foundation has committed to support our work by providing us with this funding. This generous award will help Kaulele share our work statewide and eventually beyond Hawai‘i shores.” – Sanoe Marfil, INPEACE Chief Program Officer
