The Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE) is excited to announce that its Ho’oulu Waiwai program has received a grant award from Kaiser Permanente in the amount of $50,000. This significant investment will enhance our efforts to empower Native Hawaiian communities through financial education, helping individuals and families achieve financial stability and long-term economic success.
Kaiser Permanente’s support for the Ho’oulu Waiwai program highlights their commitment to the well-being of the communities they serve. Financial stress is a significant contributor to mental health challenges and chronic stress-related illnesses. By supporting programs like Ho’oulu Waiwai, Kaiser Permanente helps improve both financial and physical health outcomes, contributing to the overall wellness of local families.
Ho’oulu Waiwai is a financial literacy program providing culturally relevant financial education, offering workshops and one-on-one coaching on topics such as budgeting, saving, debt management, financial goal setting, and much more. Thanks to Kaiser Permanente this funding will be able to support about 60 families across the state who continues to navigate the economic challenges brought by the rising cost of living. We are committed to fostering long-term financial wellness and resiliency in Hawai’i’s communities. This grant from Kaiser Permanente will not only enable us to continue this vital work, but also to scale our efforts ensuring that more families can access the resources they need to thrive.
“We are deeply grateful for Kaiser Permanente’s support,” said Program Director, Nohea Kaolulo. “This grant will allow us to further help Hawai’i’s families achieve financial independence and stability. When families are financially healthy, it has a ripple effect that benefits our entire community.”
